Logan’s James Mangold will helmÂ a Disorder remake, based on the 2015 French release
With his secondÂ Marvel ComicsÂ adaptationÂ Logan having surpassed $612 million at the worldwide box office, James Mangold has found his next directorial project.Â DeadlineÂ brings word that Mangold will take on an English-language Disorder remake, based on the 2015 French-Belgian film directed byÂ Alice Winocour. Winocour also co-wrote theÂ dramatic thrillerÂ alongsideÂ Jean-StÃ©phane Bron.
StarringÂ Matthias Schoenaerts (Rust and Bone) and Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds), itÂ was originally released in France under the title Maryland with the following official synopsis:
Vincent, a French Special Forces soldier just back from Afghanistan, is suffering from a post-traumatic stress disorder. He is hired to ensure the security of Jessie, the wife of a rich Lebanese businessman at their luxurious villa, “Maryland”. As he starts experiencing a strange fascination for the woman he has to protect, VincentÂ increasingly seems to fall into paranoia. Unless he is right, and the danger is very real indeed…Â
The Disorder remake, set up at Sony Pictures, boasts an adapted screenplay by SicarioÂ and Hell or High Water scribeÂ Taylor Sheridan. According to the original article, Sheridan’s script makes quite a few changes to the storyline and potentially sets up the central character for a film franchise.
Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch are set to produce theÂ Disorder remake throughÂ Escape Artists.Â Tony Shaw will also serve as producer with David Beaubaire overseeing for Sony.
